While the TSI (Technical Specification for Inter-operability) issued in 2014 allowed continued use of those national standards as a design requirement of trans-national rolling stock, they have been officially replaced by EN 45545 since 2018.
Consequently, compliance with the EN standards has been a shortcut for expanding your business in the European market. In addition the EN standards have been becoming more common for the industry across the world. In July 2015, Chemitox signed an official agent contract with Warringtonfire (formally Exova Warringtonfire, a world leader in fire safety testing). We can now handle all fire tests for rolling stock materials to meet EU standards.
Surface flame propagation test
We are the only private sector organization in Japan to conduct surface flame propagation tests based on ISO 5658-2.
This test is used to evaluate ceiling materials in rolling stock as well as materials for marine application (IMO FTP Code) and the interior materials of buses (UNECE R118).
