Rolling Stock, Aircraft, Building Materials: Application for International Standard

Aircraft

We, Chemitox, are certified by Nadcap which is a global cooperative accreditation program for aerospace engineering, defense and related industries administered by the Performance Review Institute (PRI). We have recently attended a webinar on preparing for assessment held by PRI. We will keep improving our testing service by making use of what we learned from the webinar.

In aircraft industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the USA is one of the largest global authoritative organization which regulates the safety standard of civil aviation in the country as globally representative 14 CFR (FAR).)

The flammability test requirements which are applied to aircraft materials regulated by FAA are described in the 14 CFR (FAR) Appendix F to Part 25. The list of laboratories which are capable of the test required in Appendix F is mentioned in the Aircraft Materials Fire Handbook (commonly known as Handbook). The Handbook is a document to provide test procedures about 14 CFR (FAR) in detail. Chemitox is the only laboratory in Japan which was listed at the timing of the Handbook update in January 2021. Below shows all the tests that Chemitox has been registered for.

Chapter 1 Vertical Bunsen Burner Test for Cabin & Cargo Compartment Materials
Chapter 2 45-Degree Bunsen Burner Test for Cargo Compartment Liners and Waste Stowage Compartment Material
Chapter 3 Horizontal Bunsen Burner Test for Cabin, Cargo Compartment, and Miscellaneous Materials
Chapter 4 60-Degree Bunsen Burner Test for Electric Wire

Chapter 6 Smoke Test for Cabin Materials

If you go on the link below and open the list Handbook Appendix, you would see that our Yamanashi laboratory is listed.

Flammability test for aircraft interior materials

There are various flammability tests required for aircraft materials based on the regulation FAR 25.853, 25.855 and 25.856 constituted by Federal Aviation Administration. This regulation is applied to not only the U.S but also other regions so it would be necessary to meet those requirements in the aviation industry. In addition, aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus make their own flammability test regulations based on the FAA regulations. Chemitox can support those flammability tests which are required for aircraft internal materials. We support our customers at any stage of business, from on-going preliminary tests to tests for official certification by aircraft manufacturers. For the following tests, we are certified by A2LA based on ISO/IEC 17025:

. Vertical flammability test
. Horizontally flammability test
. 45 degrees flammability test
. 60 degrees flammability test
. Smoke density measurement
. Gas toxicity analysis (BSS 7239)

For other tests, we cooperate with some other laboratories overseas and try to correspond to any test requests. Moreover, by tying up with the Designated Engineering Representative (DER) which is certified by FAA and has test program formulation ability, we can also offer consulting regarding test requirements.

The first NMMT (non-metal material laboratories) laboratory in Japan of Nadcap certification

Chemitox acquired the Nadcap certification as a non-metal laboratory for the first time in Japan in May 2016. Nadcap is a global cooperative accreditation program for aerospace engineering, defense and related industries. It would be a very important factor to obtain the Nadcap certification in aerospace industry. Below we show our certification scope.

We will keep trying to expand our testing service

Other testing and consulting

By cooperating with other laboratories overseas, which have abundant experience in aerospace industry, we offer any other tests such as mechanical testing, metal material testing and surface processing testing. We can also offer consulting with expertise in this industry for your requirement. Please feel free to contact us anytime.
