Polymeric materials used in parts that will be exposed to high temperatures have to prove their adequate thermal properties
Some electrical/electronic products reach high temperature during their operation. Polymeric materials used in such products are at risk of deterioration that can adversely affect the safety of the products. The standards applicable for these products specify the maximum usage temperature that the polymeric material will be subjected to in the end use of that product. Therefore, a product designer would select the material not only based on considerations of properties suitable for actual use, but also of RTI (Relative Thermal Index) that shows maximum usage temperature. The higher the RTI, the more flexible the usage. Therefore, having high RTI is a great advantage for sales promotion.
List of Standards
